With Letterhead, your newsletters do all the work for you. We help publishers and marketers engage their audience, create great content products, and generate revenue, with software that can automate and support the entire process through machine learning.

We're a venture-backed scaleup on a journey to change how online engagement happens through meaningful, first-party content. Our founders came from the media industry, building a national network of local email newsletters, and spun out Letterhead in 2022 to help every organization master email.

Technical Skills

1. Cloud Services Expertise:

   1. Familiarity with DigitalOcean and PlanetScale

   2. Proficiency in AWS (Amazon Web Services)

2. Database Management:

   1. Strong knowledge of SQL databases

   2. Experience with Redis for caching

   3. Database scaling and optimization techniques

   4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high-volume and scalable systems

3. Programming and Scripting:

   1. Proficiency in PHP

   2. Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.)

4. Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

   1. Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation

   2. Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

5. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):

   1. Setup and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines

   2. Experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, etc.

6. Containerization and Orchestration:

   1. Experience with Docker

   2. Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools

7. Monitoring and Logging:

   1. Implementing and managing monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)

   2. Centralized logging solutions (ELK Stack, Splunk, etc.)

8. Networking:

   1. Understanding of network security and protocols

   2. Experience with load balancers and reverse proxies (Nginx, HAProxy)

9. Security:

   1. Best practices for securing cloud infrastructure

   2. Experience with identity and access management (IAM)

10. Performance Tuning:

    1. Optimizing server and application performance

    2. Troubleshooting and resolving performance bottlenecks

    3. Experience in developing load testing infrastructure and simulating high-volume traffic would be an asset

11. Backup and Recovery:

    1. Implementing robust backup and recovery solutions

    2. Experience with disaster recovery planning

Responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation and management of CI/CD pipelines to automate the process of building, testing, and deploying code changes, and setup monitoring and logging systems to track application performance, system health, and potential issues.
  
• Help design and implement complex software solutions using PHP/Laravel.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Review code to ensure it meets coding standards and best practices.
• Lead initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance the development process and software quality.
• Work closely with product management and engineering teams to define technical requirements and set project timelines.
• Help fix technical-related issues affecting customers.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to suggest innovative solutions.
• Other duties as assigned

Experience

1. Professional Experience:

   1. 3+ years of experience in DevOps or related roles

   2. Experience in a B2B SaaS startup environment preferred

2. Educational Background:

   1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
